Metropolitan Pavel: Belarusian people do their utmost to preserve concord, mutual understanding

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian people do their utmost to preserve concord and mutual understanding in the country, Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslavl Pavel, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, said during the celebrations of Day of Orthodox Books at the Theology Education Center in Minsk on 15 March, BelTA has learned.

According to the metropolitan, the Belarusian people know what it is like to go through a war. “Belarusians know the price of peace and do their best to keep peace, concord and mutual understanding on this blessed soil,” he said.

Metropolitan Pavel also noted that Belarus has a rich spiritual culture, and the days of Orthodox books are one of the events that popularize and foster this culture.

A series of thematic events took place in the spiritual and educational center of the Belarusian Orthodox Church. Visitors to the celebrations were invited to take a tour around the Church History Museum of the Belarusian Orthodox Church at the Minsk Theological Academy. The books published by the Belarusian Orthodox publishing houses were also on display. On this day meetings were held with the Orthodox poets and writers: authors of new books published by the Belarusian Exarchate publishing houses.

Events dedicated to the Orthodox books will be held in March in all eparchies of the Belarusian Exarchate, in public and church libraries, schools and universities, and the theological schools of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.

The organizers of the Day of Orthodox Books were the Publishing Board of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, the Minsk Theological Academy, Saint Elisabeth Convent, the Culture Ministry and the Education Ministry of Belarus.
