Makei calls for resolving Nagorny Karabakh conflict at negotiating table

MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) – The Nagorny Karabakh conflict should be regulated at the negotiating table and on the principles of international law, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told media on 5 April, BelTA has learned.

“Our attitude to the events that are taking place in Nagorny Karabakh is univocal. We are totally against the use of military power. We are in favor of the situation to be regulated at the negotiating table and guided by the present universal principles of international law,” Vladimir Makei stressed.

The minister added that the situation with Nagorny Karabakh was discussed by the OSCE Minsk Group in Vienna. “We hope that this discussion will help de-escalate the tensions in the region,” the diplomat said.

The situation in Nagorny Karabakh exacerbated in early April 2016 for the first time since 1994.
