Makei: Belarus wants to do as much as possible for peace and stability in the region

MINSK, 17 October (BelTA) – Belarus wants to do as much as possible for peace and stability in the region. Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei made the statement in an interview with the Polish daily newspaper Rzeczpospolita, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Makei told the newspaper that Belarus tries to make its own contribution to the resolution of the Ukrainian conflict. The OSCE-Ukraine-Russia trilateral contact group meets regularly in Minsk. “In other words, we would like to do as much as possible for the sake of peace and stability in the region,” stressed the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Vladimir Makei also noted: “On the whole, the situation in the region encourages us to think not about new dividing lines and confrontation but about how we can return to the positive times when there was no cold war on the European continent let alone a hot confrontation.”
