Makei: Belarus-Iran relations are notable for pragmatism, commitment, progressive advance

MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – Belarus-Iran relations are notable for pragmatism, commitment and progressive advance, Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei said at the official opening of the new building of the Iranian Embassy in Belarus on 17 February, BelTA has learned.

“We have no political issues between the two countries. We support each other in the international arena and are determined to do it in future,” Vladimir Makei said.

The official opening of the new building of the Iranian Embassy in BelarusAccording to the minister, on 17 February the Belarusian and Iranian parties discussed the ways to add momentum to the bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation in various areas: humanitarian, scientific, investment, sport and others. “We have reached agreements and I am convinced that we will achieve all the big goals we have set forth. We will do our best for the relations between Belarus and Iran to dynamically develop and meeting the level of political cooperation,” he noted.

In turn, Foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed that the new building of the embassy is a symbol of perfect relations between Iran and Belarus. “We have good relations in the political, economic and cultural areas. They should continue expanding for the benefit of the two nations and development of the two countries. The building has many vacant rooms, which means our countries have been building long-term relations. We will explore every avenue for it,” the minister said.
