Lukashenko: We have to help a new generation of Belarusians get on the right track

Lukashenko: We have to help a new generation of Belarusians get on the right track

ROGACHEV DISTRICT, 13 August (BelTA) – The current government should not simply hand over the country to a new generation but should help it get on the right track. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement as he talked to residents of the agrotown of Tikhinichi, Rogachev District, Gomel Oblast on 13 August, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “A new generation is coming. You see that life is changing. I’d love the things that life and our people have always relied on – work and bread – to remain. A new generation is coming. It will be a different one. We should not simply leave the country to them. We should gradually help them rise to power among other things. We should see and control things. We should give them hints where necessary so that they wouldn’t lose all the valuable things you and I have accumulated over these years. It is the essence of my work now. And we’ve started it with the legislation.”

The head of state reminded why Belarus’ Constitution has to be renewed. “Not only because time has come. But because everyone was shouting in favor of changes! Good. If you want changes, too, no problem. All the people want changes. Preferably for the better instead of for the worse. But if changes have to happen, it has to be done according to the law. And the Constitution is the main law. I didn’t invent it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.

“Time has come and different people will come. We should hand over the country to them, put them on the right track and give them a nudge. After that they will be free to build a life for themselves and their own kids. But we cannot just abandon them. We cannot abandon them because we will be weak and we will live and see how our children suffer,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.
