Lukashenko urges to protect healthcare workers

LIDA DISTRICT, 17 April (BelTA) – Healthcare workers should be provided with everything they need, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he talked to the staff of Neman Glassworks on 17 April, BelTA has learned.

“The most important thing is to keep doctors at work and provide them with protective gear, from face masks to goggles, respirators, everything they need,” the head of state said.

He went on saying that Belarus has enough of personal protective equipment and medicines.

Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled that in order to support healthcare workers a decree was signed to give healthcare professionals substantial bonuses.

Speaking about production of protective gear, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that such products are in high demand throughout the world, therefore the country is trying to boost domestic production of medical supplies. “We have repurposed our companies. Now they produce 2.5 million masks a day,” the head of state informed.
