Lukashenko: The country is nothing without its people

Lukashenko: The country is nothing without its people

MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) – Presenting state awards and rank insignia on 5 November Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized an important role of the people in ensuring prosperity and independence of the state, BelTA has learned.

“We are nothing without our people, without those who work every day in fields, farms, factories and plants, who defend the borders of our Fatherland, protect the sovereignty and independence of our country,” the Belarusian leader said.

The president said that some characterize the current situation in Belarus as “a difficult time”. “It has never been easy for us, especially for farmers. They work in the open air. It is bad when there is no rain and the land is dry. It is also bad when it rains hard. It is always difficult, but any difficulties and problems are opportunities. If it is hard, you need to withstand, take the right decision and learn the lessons,” the president said.

The president used the analogy talking about street protests in a number of Belarusian cities. "It is bad when different kinds of people come out to peaceful, quiet, and cozy streets of our cities, especially the capital, in the violation of law and order. As I said, we need to learn lessons from such things. Every event has two sides of the medal. I said that it is bad. There is also something useful about it. We finally realized (here, in Minsk, we got used to coziness, warmth, and luxurious apartments - the most of those coming to the streets earn big money) what we can lose,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

“People already say that they want back the country they had before the presidential election. They say it was the country they wanted to live in, and it will always be so as long as I am President. I want you to understand this,” the head of state added.

The president said that his words can be viewed as an excuse and confirmed that this is partly true. “I sincerely say this in front of the farmers who in the most difficult conditions, amid the coronavirus pandemic, secured a good harvest and food security of our country this year,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The head of state once again thanked labor collectives, workers of different sectors for their contribution to the welfare and independence of the country. “It is only thanks to you and your work that this piece of land in the center of Europe exists today. We can see many wishing to tell us what to do. We are able to manage our country ourselves and create normal conditions not only for us but also for our children and grandchildren. They will have no other land - remember that. I always say: maybe we are not rich, but, as elderly say, Belarusians have never lived like this before. Let us keep our country. All our wealth will depend only on us. The well-being and prosperity of our homeland will depend only on us,” the president stressed.
