Lukashenko: The book is an integral part of the nations' spiritual and cultural legacy

MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent greetings to the participants of the 23rd Minsk International Book Fair and the international symposium of authors Writer and Time on the occasion of the opening of these events, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“The book is an integral part of the spiritual and cultural legacy of the nation,” the head of state remarked.

The year 2016 has been announced the Year of Culture in the Republic of Belarus. This year we will mark such landmark dates as the 125th anniversary of the birth of Maksim Bogdanovich, the 95th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Shamyakin, the 120th anniversary of the birth of Kondrat Krapiva. The books of classical authors are the unique legacy which we must protect and pass to the next generations.

Alexander Lukashenko expressed confidence that the forum will be interesting for professionals and a big number of guests, will help promote high quality and meaningful literary works, popularize books with young people, establish mutually beneficial contacts, and bolster international humanitarian cooperation.
