Lukashenko: People’s Teacher of Belarus title will make teaching profession more prestigious

MINSK, 28 December (BelTA) – The institution of the People’s Teacher of Belarus title will help raise the prestige of the noble teaching profession, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the ceremony to present state awards at the Palace of Independence on 28 December, BelTA has learned.

“Our ceremony is especially important because the People’s Teacher of Belarus title will be conferred for the first time today. I am convinced that the institution of the new honorary title will help raise the prestige of the noble teaching profession and confirm its high status in the society,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.

The People’s Teacher of Belarus title was bestowed upon physics teacher of Mogilev Oblast lyceum No. 1 Valery Barashkov.

At the ceremony the President gave the Order of Honor to Rector of the Grodno State Agrarian University Vitold Pestis. Director of the Mogilev Oblast art center Leonid Minov received the Honored Worker of Education of Belarus title.
