Lukashenko on Domracheva’s coaching job in China

MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) -  Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave out tidbits of a conversation with famous Olympic biathlon champion Darya Domracheva as she was considering a coaching job in China, BelTA has learned. 

During the conversation with the president Darya Domracheva asked for his opinion on her taking up the coaching job there. “I said that I could not say no because Xi Jinping would respond in kind. So they have taken up the job, and it's okay. This is the country with a population of one and a half billion. If they achieve good results in biathlon, then the Chinese will remember that it was the Belarusians who helped," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

A reminder, in September 2019 Darya Domracheva and her husband Ole Einar Bjoerndalen signed a contract with the National Olympic Committee of China to train the country’s national team for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. “We are happy to take this opportunity to help our favorite sport grow around the world and in countries where winter sports have huge potential,” said Darya Domracheva, the four-time Olympic champion.
