Lukashenko: Memory of the Great Victory is part of the national idea of Belarusians

VOLGOGRAD, 29 April (BelTA) – Vigorous efforts are being exercised in Belarus to get the general public to understand that the memory of the Great Victory is part of the national idea. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement during the international patriotic forum of the Union State of Belarus and Russia “Great heritage - common future” in the Russian city of Volgograd on 29 April, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “In Belarus we vigorously promote the understanding that the memory of the Great Victory is part of the national idea. We try to do everything to make our children remember that with this victory we are tied well to all the nations of the former Soviet Union. We cannot afford losing it because together we represent a most powerful force and we can never be defeated.”

“The Great Victory is sacred. The truth about the Great Patriotic War is our shield. To hold it in our hands is a great honor and responsibility. And we should remember it,” the president stated.
