Lukashenko highlights importance of preserving common economic space in CIS, EAEU

MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) – It is important to preserve the common economic space in the CIS and the EAEU, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev on 30 September, BelTA has learned.

“Right now it is very important not to lose our economic space. This is a valuable asset for us. Today, searching for new markets is costly, complicated, and unlikely to succeed. If we do find them, that would be good. However, we should gradually look for new markets as well. But we must not forget about what we already have and we must not lose it. Wise people proceed from this,” the head of state said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that Kyrgyzstan, in a way, is located “deep within” the Eurasian Economic Union. This, he said, creates a certain dependence of the country on other states.

“We are very interested in working with you. Therefore, we will do our utmost at the international level to improve and simplify things for Kyrgyzstan,” the Belarusian leader assured.

The head of state expressed confidence that Kyrgyzstan fully supports such a policy. “It is important for us to preserve what we already have. But if we can build upon it, that would be even better,” he added.
