MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to members of the Belarusian delegation at the 32nd Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“The Olympic Games is a unique event: in terms of representation, unprecedented competition and the audience numbers. It is the life goal of many athletes to take part in the Games. Winning any medal is an outstanding achievement, while gracing the top of the podium inscribes the champion's name in gold letters in the history of world sport,” the message of greetings reads.

The president emphasized that an Olympic medal is not only a personal success of an athlete, but also the object of special pride of a nation, as sports victories have long been a demonstration of the level of development of countries, their achievements and cultural heritage.

The head of state said that this is the fourteenth time Belarus has been taking part in this grand world sports event, and the Belarusian team has always returned home with medals. “I am sure it will be the same this time, because we are a sports country with rich and glorious traditions. I am convinced that the hard work of yours and your coaches will enable you to show your best in Japan and decently represent Belarus in the multinational Olympic family,” the Belarusian leader said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said that the state has done everything necessary for the preparation of athletes, and has the right to expect results. “The main thing is to follow your dream and believe in yourself. Just like millions of Belarusians, whose attention will be focused these days on the sports arenas of Tokyo, believe in you. I wish all our Olympians strong health, good luck and great victories in the name of our Motherland,” the president stressed.
