Lukashenko emphasizes importance of advancing Belarus-Egypt partnership

CAIRO, 15 January (BelTA) – Belarus believes it is very important to advance mutually beneficial partnering relations with Egypt. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement for mass media after negotiations with Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on 15 January, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko said: “We attach a lot of importance to the advancement of mutually beneficial partnering relations with Egypt. The fact that a major Belarusian delegation has come to Cairo in the run-up to the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our countries testifies to that.”

Lukashenko emphasizes importance of advancing Belarus-Egypt partnershipThe two heads of state had fruitful negotiations and agreed to further step up trade and economic ties, increase Belarus’ export taking into account Egypt’s needs, and establish bilateral manufacturing cooperation using Belarusian technologies and experience. “Belarus supports Egypt’s interest in creating a free trade zone with the Eurasian Economic Union and is ready to assist with the matter. We also intend to expand contacts in humanitarian affairs, including science, education, healthcare, culture, tourism, and sport,” noted the Belarus President.

Lukashenko emphasizes importance of advancing Belarus-Egypt partnershipThe Belarusian head of state also underlined that Belarus thinks highly of Egypt’s policy, which is aimed at ensuring security in the region and bolstering the country’s standing in the international scene. “Together with the president we have confirmed the affinity of our views on key items on the international agenda. Belarus intends to continue stepping up interaction with Egypt in this area. Particularly taking into account the important role that your country plays as a member of the UN Security Council,” said Alexander Lukashenko.

Alexander Lukashenko also pointed out that all the documents signed on 15 January are meant to bolster relations between Belarus and Egypt. They will play an important role in building up the bilateral relations. “We think highly of the negotiations. I have invited my friend and colleague — the president of Egypt — to visit Minsk at a time of his convenience. We will be pleased to welcome him in Minsk and will demonstrate everything we are capable of for the sake of your beautiful country with a long history as well as your hardworking people,” concluded the Belarusian leader.
