Lukashenko: Belarusians should do everything themselves, learn new skills

BREST, 6 September (BelTA) – Belarusians should do everything themselves and use every opportunity to learn new skills, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he talked to representatives of construction organizations who took part in the erection of the Western Bypass Road, BelTA informs.

“My objective is as follows: we should do everything ourselves. Even if we don’t know how to do certain things, we should learn, all technologies are available,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “Therefore, we will encourage you to master new technologies.”

The president mentioned very serious competition in the construction industry. Therefore, life is not a bed of roses for construction organizations. “Sometimes the country does not have enough funds to employ builders. Probably, we should have already restructured the industry in a way. Maybe, it was necessary to close something, but I feel sorry for builders.”

According to the head of state, it is very easy to close construction organizations, and it is very difficult to resume work later. “I just want to preserve construction teams. Reorganization is also possible, they can do something similar to building facilities and homes, if necessary. But we must preserve labor teams,” he stressed.

When the construction of the Western Bypass Road and other landmark objects was launched in Brest, the president encouraged local authorities to engage Belarusian enterprises and companies in the process. According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, this work was done at the world level. “You have erected such buildings! In some places we can see glass skyscrapers, and you have erected comfortable and beautiful buildings,” he said.

On the whole, Belarusian builders are true professionals, the head of state believes. If certain construction organizations are not doing well, their owners and directors are to blame. “The work of our specialists is praised here and all over the world,” the president concluded.
