Lukashenko: Belarusians have no right to make mistake

MINSK, 4 August (BelTA) – Belarusians have not right to make a mistake in this crucially important moment for the country, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he delivered his annual address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly on 4 August, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that the president in Belarus has enormous powers and is responsible for a lot of things. This is a fundamental guarantee that the state will fulfill its social obligations. “Are you, Belarusians, ready to give these powers and this Constitution to another person today? I am not a saint. You know me very well. You know what I will do, what I will not. You know that your life is sacred to me. Forget everything else,” said the Belarusian leader.

“An unknown person will come tomorrow and take this Constitution... What kind of policy will he pursue? Will you keep him from all-round privatization, from pushing the country to the left or right?” the head of state asked a question. “You will. Today, you will be able to do it, even without me. At this critical moment for the country you should be aware: you, Belarusians, have no right to make a mistake! The future belongs to us.”

The president stressed that his political doctrine relies on the constitutional thesis that the state should create all opportunities for individuals to achieve their goals. “But everyone needs to understand that without everyday work and responsible attitude, their dream will remain just a dream,” he said.
