Lukashenko: Belarus will facilitate border crossing observing its national interests

MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) – The procedure of crossing the Belarusian border will be facilitated taking into account the country’s national interests, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the session to approve the resolution on the state border protection on 14 January, BelTA has learned.

The President said that it is necessary to get rid of queues at border checkpoints and facilitate border crossing procedures. “But all decisions regarding the facilitation of regulations should be fulfilled taking into account the national interests,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

At the session the President emphasized that sanctions and other strict measures are needed to straighten things out in near-border territories. “There should be no recklessness,” the head of state demanded. In this context, Alexander Lukashenko believes that the local population should be involved in the state border protection.

Besides, Alexander Lukashenko spoke about the erection of border engineering networks. In his words, this should be done using cutting-edge equipment and the best Soviet practices.
