Lukashenko: Belarus is ready to help restore Donbass infrastructure

MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to take part in infrastructure restoration efforts in Donbass, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Ukrainian journalists on 26 September, BelTA has learned.

“I have said many times that Belarus is absolutely interested in lasting peace and stability in Ukraine. This position is based not only on the platform of good neighborliness. The ongoing conflict in the east of Ukraine breaks our hearts, too. This is our pain,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

He emphasized that Belarus is doing and will do everything it can to achieve peace in Ukraine: from hosting the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine and providing humanitarian aid to taking part in the restoration of Donbass infrastructure. “We will take any steps to bring us closer to peace,” the president said.
