Lavrov views Belarus-Russia ministerial cooperation as businesslike

MOSCOW, 21 February (BelTA) – Interaction between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Russia is proceeding in a businesslike manner and in the proper working order, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov said as he met with Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei in Moscow on 21 February, BelTA has learned.

“Today's meeting underscores that we are always ready to discuss any issues, including complicated ones,” said Sergei Lavrov.

He noted that the deeper the cooperation between the two countries in economic, cultural and human areas get, the more tasks the two states have to solve. “The current stage of our joint work is marked by an uneasy media background. But I want to assure all our colleagues that the interaction between our foreign ministries and other departments is proceeding in a businesslike manner and in the proper working order,” stressed the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In his words, the meeting was focused on the implementation of the program of concerted actions in foreign policy of the Belarus-Russia Union State for 2016-2018, cooperation in the UN and OSCE, and issues on bilateral agenda.

“I expect that today we will finalize a plan for preparations to mark the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Russia and Belarus,” Sergei Lavrov added.
