Latushko: Belarus attaches special significance to business forum in Paris

MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) - Belarus attaches special significance to the bilateral business forum which is to take place in Paris for the first time in the history of the Belarusian-French relations, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France Pavel Latushko said as he met with Co-Chair of the joint Belarusian-French commission on economic cooperation, head of the bilateral relations service at the French Ministry for the Economy and Finance Sandrine Gaudin on 13 May, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian embassy in France.

The participants of the meeting discussed the preparations for the second meeting of the Belarusian-French commission on economic cooperation and the Second Belarusian-French Business Forum scheduled to take place in Paris on 26 May. The Belarusian diplomat apprised Ms Sandrine Gaudin of over 50 representatives of the ministries, companies and business circles of Belarus that confirmed their participation in the meeting of the commission and the business forum. The business delegation will comprise representatives of various economic sector of the country: industry, agriculture, transport, woodworking industry, construction, light industry, trade and others.

On 23-27 May Paris will play host to the Belarusian-French Business Week. The program of the Week will include numerous meetings between representatives of the government bodies of Belarus and France and businessmen of the two countries. Pavel Latushko and Ms Sandrine Gaudin agreed that the main attention should be paid to the organization of bilateral talks between businessmen of Belarus and France.

The parties to the meeting finalized the draft agenda for the second meeting of the Belarusian-French commission on economic cooperation. The agenda includes 10 issues. The commission is expected to discuss the prospects for the legal framework development, trade, economic and investment cooperation, regional interaction between Belarus and France, the development of mutually favorable business climate, cooperation in industry, agriculture, transport, energy, environmental protection, tourism, banking sector and others. The commission is also slated to sign a number of bilateral documents.

Co-organizers of the meeting of the joint Belarusian-French commission on economic cooperation and the business forum are the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry for the Economy and Finance of France, the Belarusian embassy in France, the Embassy of France in Belarus, the Minsk Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Business France Association.
