Kupchyna: Belarus will be committed to maintaining peace and security

LJUBLJANA, 8 July (BelTA) – Belarus has paid a very high price for independence and will always make a contribution to the maintenance of peace and security, Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alena Kupchyna said at the solemn meeting dedicated to Belarus Independence Day on 7 July, BelTA has learned.

Alena Kupchyna noted that Belarus develops cooperation on the basis of respect with foreign countries. The relations with Slovenia are traditionally friendly and mutually beneficial, which is confirmed by the recent talks in the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to Alena Kupchyna, the two countries have good prospects for the development of contacts in the political, economic, humanitarian and cultural dimensions.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Slovenia Alexander Khainovsky, in turn, pointed out the importance of Belarus-Slovenia cooperation development. He believes that positive dynamics is a good foundation for bolstering ties in the future.

The Belarusian diplomatic meeting in Ljubljana was attended by Director General for Economic Diplomacy at the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Stanislav Rascan, other representatives of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director General of the Slovenian company Riko Janez Skrabec, diplomats, creative figures, leadership of the organizing committee of the Ljubljana International Festival which is now held in the Slovenian capital.

Alena Kupchyna took part in the celebrations of Belarus Independence Day as part of her visit to Ljubljana on 6-7 July. During the visit the Belarusian deputy minister of foreign affairs held a number of meetings in the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the prospects of bilateral relations in politics, economy, culture and the humanitarian field, the situation in the region and the development of the Belarus-EU dialogue.
