Kochanova: Together Belarus, Russia will be able to solve all problems facing their peoples

MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) - Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova met with Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev of Russia, BelTA has learned.

"Today's meeting is a great opportunity to discuss current issues that we need to address in the near future. I sincerely welcome the good and constructive relations between the Council of the Republic and the Federation Council, between our senators. This is very important in our work, as it contributes to a more trusting and meaningful interaction between state bodies," Natalya Kochanova said. 

The speaker thanked the delegation of the Federation Council for the support provided during the 143rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to prevent the inclusion of an anti-Belarus resolution as an emergency item on the agenda. . "Your support is very important to us. In these difficult conditions, together we will be able to more effectively resist the challenges that our countries have to face," she stressed. “Yesterday, together with members of the Council of the Republic, we visited the temporary shelter for refugees in the transport and logistics center near Bruzgi, held an onsite meeting of the presidium of the upper house in Grodno. We appreciate the support that the Russian Federation provides us today. We are not just reliable partners, but good friends who will always lend a helping hand."

Natalya Kochanova noted that a lot of work is ahead to implement the programs signed by Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State, "including in terms of unification of legislation. In addition, we are starting preparations for the 9th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, which is scheduled for June. We have considered the proposals from the Federation Council and support the proposed topic and the date. I am sure that together we will be able to address all the tasks facing our peoples," she stressed.

I convey the most sincere greetings from Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko, who highly appreciates the professional and personal relations that have developed between the upper houses of the two parliaments,” Konstantin Kosachev said. "Speaking about the situation at the Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, we had not a shadow of a doubt that we should get involved in the most active way."
