Kochanova: People’s health and wellbeing among Belarus’ top priorities

Kochanova: People’s health and wellbeing among Belarus’ top priorities

MINSK, 15 December (BelTA) - The 20th city polyclinic in Minsk opened after a major makeover on 14 December. The renovated healthcare facility will be able to receive more than 700 patients per shift, BelTA has learned.

According to Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova, the construction of new medical centers and reconstruction of the existing ones are of crucial importance this year. “Issues related to providing services and medical care to people are of top priority for us in the current difficult situation due to the coronavirus infection. The authorities of the city and the country do their best to open such medical institutions to help people. I would like to say that today the outpatient and polyclinic services work very effectively. Modern services and good conditions for patients and doctors are very important, because people, their wellbeing and health have always been and remain a priority of the state policy,” the speaker emphasized.

She added that the Frunzensky District is the most densely populated district in Minsk: “I would like to see it continue growing with new facilities.”

The reconstruction works began in the polyclinic on 1 April 2019. The facility got a fifth floor and a new building with access to Pushkin Avenue, which increased the total area of the polyclinic to 5,600m2. The facility got water therapy and physical therapy departments, district rheumatology and gastroenterology offices, and a renovated day care center. “Today the polyclinic serves more than 55,000 people. From now on they will be coming to seek help in a spacious building with modern equipment. All conditions have been created here to provide a wide range of services. Now the polyclinic has digital X-ray machines, a mechanical therapy room, a hydropathic clinic. There is a lot of space, which is very important now: we can separate the flows of healthy and sick people. A lot has been created. Now both medical workers and patients will feel comfortable,” said head doctor of the polyclinic Olga Yaznevich.

Taking part in the opening of the healthcare facility were also Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev, Chairman of the Healthcare Committee of the Minsk City Hall Zhanna Kazachenok and Belarus President’s Aide for Minsk Aleksandr Barsukov.
