Kochanova: Belarus has high hopes for the young

MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) – The youth movement receives a lot of attention in Belarus, Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Kochanova said at the 43rd congress of the BRSM Youth Union in the Minsk Concert Hall, BelTA has learned.

“The youth movement in Belarus is given special attention, and it is a principled state policy. At the fifth Belarusian People’s Assembly the president said that the youth is a strategic resource for the development of the country,” Natalya Kochanova noted.

According to her, hundreds of thousands of boys and girls have joined the BRSM Youth Union, the country’s most massive organization, took a conscious decision to take responsibility for the future of the country, to lead the youth. Natalya Kochanova believes that only true leaders, people with strong inner conviction devoted to their country are up to this task.

Addressing the BRSM Youth Union members, Natalya Kochanova noted that they must show an example of selfless love for the motherland and people, promote the ideas of traditional spiritual and moral values boldly and convincingly, lead a healthy lifestyle, defend the state position. “We need to communicate these beliefs to everyone,” she added. It is not easy to engage young people who spend a lot of time on the internet but it is one of the key activities of the organization. We need vivid and memorable events that will interest young people, she added.

“The state has high hopes for the youth in the implementation of large-scale projects such as an IT country, the Belarusian nuclear power station, the Great Stone industrial park. Today you cannot be inert and passive,” Natalya Kochanova said.

In Belarus, where the highest value is people, the authorities’ efforts are focused on achieving the main goals, which are social justice, better quality of life and wellbeing. The country builds its business and trade and economic relations with other countries on the principles of equality and respect. Today Belarus plays an important part in addressing issues of regional security, promoting the ideas of peace and mutual understanding. “It is a matter of honor for today’s young people to preserve and multiply the things that make us proud of Belarus,” Natalya Kochanova said.

Natalya Kochanova read out the greetings of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to the participants of the 43rd BRSM Youth Union Congress.

The congress was attended by young delegates from all parts of the country. The forum was also attended by members of the government, MPs, heads of national and local government bodies, representatives of public organizations and mass media.

The delegates and guests of the congress received numerous letters of greetings from foreign organizations from Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Cuba, Latvia, Poland, Serbia and also the BRSM Youth Union partner organizations.

The forum reviewed the activity of the organization since 2015 and outlined its further development strategy.
