Kobyakov: Belarus needs to show its best at WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017

MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) - Belarus needs to show its best at the WorldSkills Competition that will be held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates on 14-19 October, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said during his visit to the college of modern technologies in mechanical engineering and automobile service at the National Institute for Vocational Education of Belarus on 5 October, BelTA has learned.

The PM talked with members of the Belarusian national team at the WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 and also the college students who will be taking part in the WorldSkills national round in May 2018. The head of government was briefed on the preparations of the Belarusian team for this year’s competition and the implementation of international education standards in vocational education.

In Abu Dhabi the WorldSkills Belarus team will comprise 29 people, including college and university students and also young qualified specialists. For Belarus, the competition in Abu Dhabi will be the second WorldSkills championship. In 2015 the team took part in the competitions in Brazil. The Belarusian team competed in 15 disciplines and won medals in Hairdressing and Fashion Technology.

Andrei Kobyakov wished the Belarusian team every success at the WorldSkills International. “I highly appreciate your results and victories in terms of economic effect and for the society in general. The results of your work contribute to our economic potential and ensure the growth of people’s wellbeing,” he noted.

The head of government also got familiar with the material and technical base and the organization of the educational process in the college. Andrei Kobyakov was shown the potential of laboratories at the resource center to train personnel for automotive services.

Andrei Kobyakov stressed the importance of constant improvement of educational programs taking into account the world’s best practices and new trends.
