Kazakhstan PM hails Belarus as advanced IT country

MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – Belarus is one of the most advanced countries in the IT sector, Kazakhstan Prime Minister Askar Mamin said as he met with Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Rumas in Almaty on 30 January, BelTA has learned.

“We believe that Belarus is one of the most advanced IT countries,” Askar Mamin said.

Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Rumas is on a working trip to Kazakhstan on 30-31 January. On 31 January, the Belarusian head of government is expected to take part in a session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and a plenary session of the forum Digital Future of Global Economy. “We got familiar with digitalization development in Belarus. We praise the successes your country has made so far. I am confident that your participation in the forum will be of great importance for all the participants and you. We are always happy to see you in Kazakhstan. We view Belarus as a close friend and partner in the integration associations, in multilateral and bilateral formats,” the prime minister of Kazakhstan said. 

Sergei Rumas pointed to a growing number of participants in the Digital Future of Global Economy forum. “All countries are making progress in the IT sector. It is very important to share achievements to see how our partners progress. Besides, we have a common digital agenda of the Eurasian integration. It is important to have an opportunity to transfer our successes in the digital sector onto the platform of our Eurasian integration. I am also happy to have this opportunity to discuss our bilateral issues,” he stressed.

On 1 January Belarus assumed presidency in the bodies of the Eurasian Economic Council.
