IEC General Assembly welcomed as momentous event for Belarus

MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) – The organization of the General Assembly of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a momentous event for Belarus. Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov made the statement during the opening ceremony, BelTA has learned.

In his speech Andrei Kobyakov thanked IEC President Junji Nomura and IEC General Secretary and CEO Frans Vreeswijk for supporting the decision to arrange the assembly in Belarus. “The organization of the IEC General Assembly is a momentous event for Belarus. It will contribute to shaping the country’s image as a state with attractive business operation terms, a modern level of the production sector and science, a respectable potential for investments and innovations,” said Andrei Kobyakov. In his words, Belarus focuses on making quality products, assimilating innovations in the production sector and power engineering industry, modernizing manufacturing processes and management, frugal use of resources. “The topicality of these areas is multiplied by rising competition as well as the development of integration processes in many regions of the world,” stated the Prime Minister.

IEC General Assembly welcomed as momentous event for BelarusIn his words, today the development of any economy is inextricably linked to the rational use of all kinds of resources and energy saving. In Belarus systemic work in the area of energy saving and the development of renewable sources of energy has been in progress for over 15 years. “We primarily satisfy the domestic demand with organic fuel, most of which is imported,” explained the Prime Minister. He stressed that bearing this in mind raising the effectiveness of energy usage is one of the basic conditions for the sustainable development of the Belarusian economy.

Andrei Kobyakov noted that Belarus’ membership in international standardization organizations helps shape a balanced technical policy of the country for the future. In turn, the policy allows reducing costs and contributes to simpler international trade.

IEC General Assembly welcomed as momentous event for BelarusAndrei Kobyakov said that the organization of the IEC General Assembly in Minsk will contribute to stronger ties between countries, to the advancement of cooperation in the areas of equipment and technologies, industrial manufacturing and trade. “We have tried to enable as comfortable conditions as possible for hosting the forum in addition to showing you rich national traditions of our people,” summed up the Prime Minister of Belarus.
