Huawei Technologies: Belarus’ international reputation in IT sector is growing

ASTANA, 15 November (BelTA) – Belarus’ international standing in the IT sector has considerably improved in the recent years, Huawei Technologies Product Manager Dmitry Polpudenko told BelTA on the sidelines of Huawei Central Asia Innovation Day in Astana.

"The acquisition of Belarusian startups by such industry leaders as Google and Facebook testifies to the fact. If the world's largest players in the IT industry carry out transactions with Belarus, it means that the country has created the necessary conditions for the development of this sector. We can also speak about a good school of IT specialists, which proves there is a good education basis in the country,” said Dmitry Polpudenko.

According to the expert, Belarus is becoming more and more well-known, and this is a very good indicator in the current rapidly developing conditions of the industry.

He called Belarus’ openness as a positive factor for the country. He cited an example of the country’s 5-day visa-free regime for foreign guests. IT specialists benefit from the new rules as well.

The First Huawei Innovation Day in Astana was themed Explore the Way to Digital Silk Road. Invited to the event were more than 150 representatives of the industrial elite, state bodies, research institutes, scientists and media from 11 Eurasian countries.
