Guryanov: New opportunities, challenges in foreign trade for Belarus

MINSK, 8 July (BelTA) - In foreign trade Belarus is dealing with certain challenges and opening up new opportunities, Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Guryanov said at the opening of the annual seminar for the heads of diplomatic missions and consular institutions of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The things in foreign trade are not easy. Belarus is experiencing the impact of the crisis which the European and international markets have been struggling for some years already. "In any case we are working to overcome certain challenges. At the same time we have a number of new opportunities," said Alexander Guryanov.

He drew attention to certain positive things in the foreign political interaction, which allow searching for new opportunities in cooperation, with a focus on economic results. "We have these results in cooperation with a number of countries. In others, we are looking for new approaches," he informed.

Alexander Guryanov recalled that in Belarus certain officials have been put in charge for the cooperation with certain countries and regions. "We hope that this tool will help give some impetus to the development of economic contacts with our partners," he said.

The annual seminar for the heads of diplomatic missions and consular institutions of Belarus will be running in Minsk till 17 July. The participants have gathered for the first event at the Academy of Public Administration under the auspices of the President of the Republic which will host some part of the seminars. According to Academy Rector Marat Zhilinsky, the ambassadors will meet with representatives of the executive power, heads of ministries and executives of large enterprises-exporters. Among the topics to be discussed will be the current issues of Belarus’ economic policy, especially the export of educational services, the role and place of Belarus in the modern geopolitical space.
