Growing trust between Belarus, Germany viewed as good prerequisite for development of relations

Growing trust between Belarus, Germany viewed as good prerequisite for development of relations

MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) – Trust between Belarus and Germany has been growing in various areas, German Ambassador to Belarus Peter Dettmar told the media on 22 November, BelTA has learned.

“If we look at the exchange of visits during the last twelve months, we can see that trust has been growing in various fields between Belarus and Germany. This is a good prerequisite for the development of our relations,” the diplomat said.

As an example he cited visits to Belarus by Germany President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, a delegation from the Ministry of Health and the MPs of the Federal State of Saxony. “The areas where our cooperation is progressing are very diverse,” the diplomat said.

Trade relations have also been gaining momentum, the Ambassador said. In January-September the trade amounted to €2.2 billion. Export and import are divided almost evenly. “I do not remember another year when the inflow of direct investment to Belarus was higher than this year. I think this is a good sign,” ambassador Peter Dettmar said.
