Great prospects for cooperation between Belarus, China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region

MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) – Cooperation between China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Belarus has great prospects, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming on 18 November during the opening ceremony of the expo focusing on trade and economic cooperation as well as products made in China’s autonomous districts of Xinjiang and Ningxia.

The diplomat said that a solid base has been created for advancing mutually beneficial relations between Belarus and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. This cooperation has a great potential and prospects.

Cui Qiming underlined that Belarusian-Chinese relations have reached a new stage in their development while interstate cooperation has reached a higher level. Visits of the China president to Belarus and the Belarus president to China in 2015 contributed to that. According to the Ambassador, the Silk Road Economic Belt project is advancing fast.

During the opening ceremony of the expo focusing on trade and economic cooperation as well as products made in China’s autonomous districts of Xinjiang and NingxiaAccording to the Ambassador, the regions have an advantageous infrastructure component. “The autonomous region of Xinjiang is an important transport node that connects China with Central Asia and countries of the European continent. In turn, Belarus represents an important transport node on the way from the Eurasian continent to countries of the European Union,” he remarked.

Cui Qiming said he sees great prospects for developing the China-Belarus Industrial Park project. He also noted that scientific and research efforts and the education system in Belarus are at a sufficiently high level. Due to these factors Belarus is a good platform for advancing international cooperation in manufacturing goods and providing services on the basis of the China-Belarus Industrial Park.

Over 100 companies and 160 businessmen from China’s autonomous districts of Xinjiang and Ningxia are taking part in it. Visitors can appreciate a wide range of food products, textiles, knitwear products, cosmetics and pharmaceutics, household appliances and industrial machines, construction materials and other products. The expo will stay open till 20 November.

The events have been organized as part of the implementation of the 2014-2018 Belarus-China comprehensive strategic partnership development program and for the sake of implementing Belarus president directive No. 5 on advancing bilateral relations between Belarus and China.
