Great prospects for Belarus-Oman tighter investment cooperation

MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – Belarus sees great prospects for advancing investment cooperation with Oman. Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov made the statement as he met with Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Oman Saeed Al Kiyumi on 27 May, BelTA has learned.

Andrei Kobyakov said: “We are extremely interested in the arrival of Omani business in Belarus and see great prospects for advancing investment cooperation between our countries.”

In his words, Belarus sees Oman as a promising trade, economic, and investment partner in the Middle East. “In 2016 alone the ministers of trade and education, the deputy chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus visited your country. It is very good dynamics and a vivid indicator of the mutual desire of our countries to advance the existing relations of friendship and trust, to make them stronger across the board,” believes the Prime Minister. According to Andrei Kobyakov, the meeting on 27 May was another confirmation of the sincere intention of Belarus and Oman to bolster cooperation.

Contacts between representatives of the business circles represent one of the key components of trade and economic cooperation. I am confident that effectiveness and results of contacts of the business community will secure the successful development of interstate relations in trade and economic affairs on the whole,” said Andrei Kobyakov.

Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov stated that positive dynamics in the development of Belarus-Oman trade and economic relations has been registered this year. “At the same time trade figures are extremely low. The potential for Belarus-Oman trade and economic interaction is far from being fully utilized,” stressed the Prime Minister.

Great prospects for Belarus-Oman tighter investment cooperationAndrei Kobyakov assured that Belarus is ready to advance cooperation with Oman in a number of areas. “We are ready to supply BelAZ quarry vehicles and mining machines, Amkodor road construction and municipal vehicles, MAZ automobiles and buses as well as all kinds of agricultural machines. These Belarusian products are already known on the Omani market,” he remarked.

Great prospects for Belarus-Oman tighter investment cooperationAny project the Omani side may be interested in will be viewed from the point of special Belarus-Oman relations in the spirit of mutually beneficial partnership, friendship and trust. “I am confident that despite crisis phenomena in the world economy we will secure the desired results by combining our efforts. All the necessary prerequisites, conditions, and, most of all, good will are available for it,” said Andrei Kobyakov. “I hope our meeting, your negotiations in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Trade Ministry, and meetings with potential Belarusian partners will allow working out a concrete plan for future interaction between the business circles of Belarus and Oman. It will contribute to more vigorous Belarusian-Omani cooperation.”

In turn, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Oman Saeed Al Kiyumi thanked Andrei Kobyakov for the meeting and said he hopes for further fruitful cooperation.
