French diplomat calls for peace, respect for humanistic values

French diplomat calls for peace, respect for humanistic values

MINSK, 15 July (BelTA) – The anniversary of the end of World War II and the 80th anniversary of peace on the European continent are deeply important now, Chargé d'Affaires of France in Belarus Ludovic Royer at a ceremonial event on the occasion of the National Holiday - Bastille Day, BelTA reports.

“The first half of this year was especially rich in events and memorable dates. Among them, a special place is held by the end of World War II and the 80th anniversary of peace on our European continent. In France, while commemorating this period, we talk about liberation. Our freedom is also linked to the sacrifices and feats of the Red Army. Their contribution is not diminished in our country,” the diplomat emphasized.

Ludovic Royer voiced his concern over the new and ongoing conflicts in various parts of the world. “The way out is through negotiations as well as bona fide and candid dialogue, which would give us a fresh start. Today’s world is engulfed in crisis and is undergoing a profound transformation. I hope that wars will end, humanistic values will be respected more and common sense will prevail - in Europe and around the world,” said the head of the French diplomatic mission in Belarus.

The diplomat also spoke about French cultural projects being implemented in Belarus, which contribute to sustainable dialogue. “Long live the friendship between the French and Belarusian peoples,” the head of the diplomatic mission added.
