MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) - To a greater extent the future of Belarus depends on whether the allies and partners in Eurasia and in the world are able to come to an agreement with each other, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said as he spoke at the high-level online discussion on harnessing interregional integration for the Sustainable Development Goals, BelTA learned.

“The future of Belarus largely depends on whether allies and partners in Eurasia and the world can come to an agreement with each other. Our security and wellbeing are inseparably linked to this factor. This is why Belarus always uses every opportunity to maintain dialogue in the international arena,” the minister said.

Belarus believes that regional economic integration should be designed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, and to promote consistency in economic policies of member states of the integration unions, Vladimir Makei said.

“This will help achieve a multiplier effect for national economies, the foundations of the integral system of regional and global sustainability. We hope that the success of the long-term interregional dialogue that we are initiating today will help us tackle the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic and fully implement the 2030 Agenda in a timely manner,” the minister said.
