FM outlines Belarus-Uzbekistan presidential talks agenda

MINSK, 8 July (BelTA) – The agenda of the talks between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will include a broad range of projects aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov told the media after taking part in the ceremony to plant the Allée of Friendship in Minsk on 8 July, BelTA has learned.

“Whenever presidents personally oversee the development of bilateral cooperation, everyone starts moving much faster to implement agreements more fully, on a larger scale and with greater substance,” Maxim Ryzhenkov said.

According to him, the leaders will discuss a wide range of issues. “These include major industrial assembly projects for Belarusian goods in Uzbekistan. Food supplies both from Belarus to Uzbekistan and from Uzbekistan to Belarus are also under discussion. The agenda covers exports of certain industrial goods from Uzbekistan, as unusual as that may seem to some,” he said.

The agenda for the presidents will also include expanding cooperation in culture, education, science and technology. “These areas are particularly important for training scientific personnel, enabling both countries to gain access to advanced technologies and adopt new practices, including in artificial intelligence and IT,” Maxim Ryzhenkov emphasized.

As BelTA previously reported, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko is set to hold talks with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who arrived in Belarus on an official visit on 8 July.
During the high-level talks, the leaders will discuss current issues of bilateral cooperation and prospects for strengthening ties across a wide range of areas. The central focus of the agenda will be the expansion of industrial cooperation and the implementation of joint projects.
