MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) - New challenges require of Belarus not only prompt measures but also a forward-looking well-crafted multifaceted approach, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said at a seminar for heads of diplomatic missions and consular offices of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

"The foreign political and foreign economic environment, which has changed dramatically over the past year, has created new challenges for our country, primarily associated with a hybrid war. We can say it openly that the West has unleashed a financial and economic war against us. These challenges require not only prompt steps but also a forward-looking well-crafted multifaceted approach," Vladimir Makei said.

The foreign minister noted that the response to the new challenges is not only about adequate measures to the negative steps of the West but also about the need to ensure the progressive sustainable economic development of Belarus. "This is the key to the survival of our state, our statehood as a whole," he said.

At the same time, the minister noted that any challenges always create new opportunities that need to be identified timely and used smartly. Here, Belarus has someone and something to rely on. "I mean, first of all, our strategic partners, Russia and China, and other countries, the foothold that we have gained in our traditional markets and also the strategies and plans to increase our presence and explore new markets and niches," the minister noted.
