FM: Belarus, Sri Lanka can deepen cooperation

MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Sri Lanka can bring their relations to a new level, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov said during a meeting with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath, BelTA has learned.

Maxim Ryzhenkov noted that cooperation between Belarus and Sri Lanka is already yielding concrete results. As an example, he cited the recent launch of direct air service between the two countries and the establishment of a friendship group with Belarus in the Sri Lankan parliament.

“And certainly, your official visit and our meeting are clear evidence of the readiness to deepen and strengthen relations and take them to a new level,” Maxim Ryzhenkov told Vijitha Herath.

The Belarusian minister believes that this meeting will make it possible to analyze the current state and prospects of bilateral relations in politics and economy. In addition, he noted, talks at the level of the heads of the foreign ministries will help develop specific mechanisms that will contribute to advancing relations between Belarus and Sri Lanka.
