MOSCOW, 2 September (BelTA) - Belarus did not allow external forces to implement the Ukrainian scenario in the country, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said as he met with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on 2 September, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Makei stated that today Belarus has to face both internal and external challenges. “The latter to a greater extent predetermine the former ones. Nevertheless, I would like to say that we withstood the first attack and did not allow the Ukrainian scenario, the scenario of a color revolution to be implemented in Belarus,” said Vladimir Makei.

The Belarusian minister stressed that there is a certain political confrontation in the country, but its level of intensity has significantly reduced. “Here, I would like to express my gratitude to Russia for the sustained, competent and clear reaction to the events that have been unfolding in Belarus. We can see that it is a balanced and extremely clear position of Russia that acts as a counterweight that restrains external forces from actively interfering with the internal affairs of Belarus. This, in turn, gives us the opportunity to move the situation in a more calm direction, to establish a dialogue with society and to identify ways out of this situation,” said Vladimir Makei.
