MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) – We hope to open a new page in the relations with Algeria, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said as he met with his Algerian counterpart Abdelkader Messahel on 20 February, BelTA has learned.

“I appreciate that you have accept our invitation to visit and that you honor the agreements reached during our meeting in New York in September,” Vladimir Makei said.

In his words, Belarus will stay committed to the agreements that the parties are expected to reach during the current visit of the Algerian minister of foreign affairs to Belarus. Vladimir Makei is confident that the bilateral talks will bring results in every area of cooperation.

For his part, Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelkader Messahel expressed the hope that his visit and talks in Minsk will give a significant impetus to the development of the Belarusian-Algerian relations. “Hopefully, we can do it together,” he said.

Abdelkader Messahel added that the agreement to set up a commission on cooperation in trade, economy and science , which is planned to be signed today, is designed to promote the cooperation between the two countries.
