Expert: Minsk has become a peace broker in Eastern Europe

MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) – Minsk has become a peace broker in Eastern Europe, associate professor of the political theory chair at the Moscow State Institute of international Relations (MGIMO University) Kirill Koktysh said during a panel discussion “Modern world in the era of new geopolitical realities” held as part of the 10th Belarusian International Media Forum on 8 June, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus is always looking for constructive ides and has no desire to argue with anyone. The help in regulating the crisis in Ukraine allowed Minsk to become a peace broker in the Eastern European region. I think that absolutely all people living in this territory, especially the citizens of Ukraine, are interested in peace because it is the cornerstone of everything. The war has no meaning, it destroys the economy and life,” Kirill Koktysh said.

According to the expert, the promotion of the peace process can be a kind of Belarus’ specialization which would be supported by Eastern Europe and the rest of the world.
