Exchange of exhibitions viewed as important platform for Belarus-China cooperation

MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – An exchange of exhibitions is an important platform for cooperation between Belarus and China, Secretary of the Administrative Committee of the Economic Development Zone in Urumqi, China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Xue Jihai said at the opening of the exhibition of the goods of the Chinese region in Minsk on 9 November, BelTA has learned.

He thanked the organizers and Belarus in particular for the opportunity to present the industrial potential of China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and the Urumqi Economic Development Zone.

In his words, Belarus, being situated in the center of Europe, is an important point on the One Belt, One Road route to Europe.

The representative of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region emphasized that Belarus and Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region established a permanent exchange of exhibitions that present the economic potential and opportunities in culture and education of the two regions.

It is China’s biggest region which is rich in natural resources. The region is a well-known producer of gold, copper, nickel, lead, zinc. According to the local authorities, the region accounts for one third of China’s oil and gas reserves and also for 40% of the country’s coal. Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region is called “a window to the West for China” and one of the most strategically important hubs of the Silk Road Economic Belt project.
