Eurasian Economic Commission officials honor memory of Brest Fortress defenders

Eurasian Economic Commission officials honor memory of Brest Fortress defenders

MOSCOW, 21 June (BelTA) – Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich, ministers and directors of departments of the Eurasian Economic Commission took part in a ceremony held in Brest on 21 June to lay a wreath at the Eternal Fire in the memorial complex Brest Hero Fortress. The ceremony was held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission told BelTA.

Mikhail Myasnikovich said: “The heroic defense of the Brest Fortress is the greatest example of service to the Motherland, of an exceptional self-sacrifice for the sake of saving the Fatherland. In this sacred place for all of us we respectfully bow our heads before our fathers and grandfathers, who defended the freedom of Eurasian peoples and destroyed fascism. I am convinced that memory of the joint great trials and the common Great Victory will always serve as a reliable foundation for future friendship and interaction of the peoples of Eurasia. The heroic deed of defenders of the Brest Fortress is known all over the world and we will preserve this memory forever.”

On the night of 22 June the delegation of the Eurasian Economic Commission intends to participate in the 10th international historical reenactment convention dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and to the heroic defense of the Brest Fortress.
