Ecuador interested in expanding ties with Belarus

MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) – The Ecuadorian side is interested in the expansion of ties with Belarus, President of the National Assembly of Ecuador Gabriela Rivadeneira Burbano said at the meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 28 March, BelTA has learned.

The head of Ecuador’s parliament extended the best wishes from Ecuador President Rafael Correa who is waiting for the visit of the Belarusian leader. “We hope that this visit will take place and will benefit our relations,” Gabriela Rivadeneira Burbano remarked.

“President Correa also asked to convey the best wishes to the Belarusian people on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. Thanks to its outstanding perseverance and courage the Belarusian nation did a lot during the war and made huge progress in its peaceful development,” the president of the National Assembly of Ecuador said. She also noted that the policy of all the member states of the Non-Alignment Movement is in tune with the policy of Latin American countries which are constantly doing their best to protect independence.

Besides, Gabriela Rivadeneira Burbano pointed out the importance of the development of the inter-parliamentary contacts with Belarusian colleagues and mentioned the signing of important bilateral documents.
