Do Van Mai: Vietnam-Belarus friendship has been steadily strengthening

MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – The friendship between Vietnam and Belarus, which was established in the Soviet times, has been steadily strengthening, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Belarus Do Van Mai stated at a solemn meeting in the House of Friendship on 18 December to mark the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Vietnamese People’s Army and the 25th anniversary of the Vietnam’s National Defense Day, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat stressed that the Vietnamese People’s Army had got colossal and effective assistance from the Soviet people, including Belarusians. Many Belarusian military stood shoulder to shoulder with the Vietnamese during the war. On behalf of the Vietnamese government Do Van Mai expressed sincere gratitude to the Belarusian people for this invaluable help.

“After Belarus gained independence, the friendship and cooperation between the two countries have been continuously developing. The recent official visit of Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong gave a fresh impetus to the bilateral cooperation and took the relations between the two countries onto a new level,” the Ambassador noted.
