Davydko: Belarus is turning into an international negotiation platform

MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) – Belarus is rapidly turning into an international negotiation platform, Chairman of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company Gennady Davydko said when speaking at the Forum of the Heads of the Leading SCO Media Outlets “Towards Sputnik a Common SCO Information Space”, the news agency informs.

"For a long time they crafted this boogeyman image for Belarus. But time passed, and they stopped using us to scare others,” Gennady Davydko said. According to him, Belarus has turned into a global negotiation platform. "This revolution in the perception is happening before our eyes,” said the head of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company.

Gennady Davydko believes that there is no independent media. It is the "highest pleasure" for journalists “to depend only on the truth, conscience, and work for the edition whose views you share."

His opinion was echoed by Dana Rysmukhamedova of Kazakhstan. “The freedom of speech principle cannot trump the value of the human life,” she said addressing the heads of the SCO leading media outlets.

RT Director General Alexei Nikolov noted for his part that “the new information reality consists of numerous “small truths”, and every country may have its own truths.”

The heads of the SCO leading media outlets touched upon the theme of the death of journalists in hot spots. Gennady Davydko added: “Today journalists in hot spots are killed on purpose, as a fighting unit.”
