Among other things the foreign students mentioned the high quality of Belarusian education and its affordability. They underlined that Belarusian diplomas will give them broad career opportunities in their home countries.

A fourth-year Nigerian student of the Gomel State Medical University said that professors are exacting in matters of education yet understanding towards students, who have problems speaking Russian. He said he intends to focus on general surgery once he goes back to Nigeria. “The salaries are good even for young professionals,” said the student.

A UK citizen of Pakistani origin, who is also a student of the Gomel State Medical University, underlined that Belarus is a beautiful and calm place without any conflicts. “Studying here is comfortable indeed. I may even spend my life in this country,” added the young man.

The international student meeting Belarus — A Country of Peace and Accord took place in the Gomel State University named after Frantsisk Skorina. The event gathered about 600 young people. The event was organized by the Gomel Oblast branch of the public association Belarusian Peace Foundation, the oblast committee and the city committee of the public association Belarusian Republican Youth Union.
