Chinese ambassador praises quality of Belarusian military education

MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) – Belarus offers top-quality education to Chinese army specialists. The number of Chinese army specialists studying in Minsk is larger than that in Moscow. The statements were made by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming as he visited the Border Service Institute on 6 August, BelTA has learned.

Top Border Service Institute administrators met with representatives of the Embassy of China in Belarus on 6 August. The ambassador said: “I would like to offer my gratitude for the support our students enjoy at the institute. They’ve received high-quality education here.”

Cui Qiming also mentioned the serious level of cooperation between the embassy and the institute. “Our relations are at a very high level. I am confident that this cooperation will continue. It is not simple cooperation, it is high-quality and sincere cooperation,” he stressed.

Head of the Border Service Institute Sergei Zhilinsky noted that Chinese students are assigned to key posts upon graduation such as military attaches in various parts of the world, high-ranking positions in the army units, which guard the Chinese border. “We’ve accomplished something. Today we’ve sketched out prospects of our future cooperation. New groups of students will arrive soon,” said Sergei Zhilinsky. The discussion also touched upon various postgraduate education courses the institute would offer.

As many as 14 Chinese army specialists have graduated from the Border Service Institute since 2012. Another 18 specialists enjoyed short-term courses on border security in 2016-2017. As many as 14 Chinese army specialists are learning border service management at the institute now. The Embassy of China provided gratuitous aid to the Border Service Institute in 2017-2018. Two classrooms, a publishing division, and other premises of the institute were equipped with support of the diplomatic mission.

The Border Service Institute maintains close cooperation with the border and naval defense academy in the city of Xian. Reciprocal visits are regularly arranged to share the best practices in the area of border protection.
