MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) – Unity is the source of strength that has enabled Belarus to achieve remarkable success in its development, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan told BelTA on People’s Unity Day.
Belarus celebrates People’s Unity Day on 17 September, one of the most important holidays for the Belarusian people. “Exactly two years ago today, I officially assumed office as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus,” the diplomat said. “My very first event was attending the grand assembly dedicated to People’s Unity Day. The speech delivered by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko made a profound impression on me. Over these past two years, I have engaged extensively with people from all walks of Belarusian society and visited many places. Not only have I deeply felt the warmth and friendliness of the Belarusian people toward the Chinese people, but I have also gained a deeper appreciation of the immense significance of the unity achieved by Belarus.”
The diplomat noted that, historically, Belarus has repeatedly been subjected to aggression, its territories seized, and its people forced to abandon their native places. On 17 September 1939, the reunification of Western and Eastern Belarus became a major milestone in the history of the Belarusian people. Grounded in unity, Belarus achieved independence and successfully set out on the path of self-reliant development.
“Reaching complete national unity is a goal that every single country and nation relentlessly pursues,” the Chinese ambassador said.
