China hopes for success in Minsk talks on Ukraine

BEIJING, 11 February (BelTA-TASS) – China hopes for success in Minsk talks on Ukraine, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said on 11 February.

“We expect good news from the talks that all the parties reach an important consensus on the political regulation of the crisis, aimed at restoring peace and stability in the Ukrainian regions involved in the conflict,” the diplomat said.

“China hails and supports an active international mediation by all the parties to reduce the tension in eastern Ukraine and find a political way to regulate it,” she noted.

It is expected that today’s Normandy format summit in Minsk will culminate the intensive multilateral efforts to find a way out of the Ukrainian crisis. Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, French President Francois Hollande, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are expected to arrive in Minsk for talks.
