China-Belarus industrial park envisaged as major manufacturing, logistics hub

China-Belarus industrial park envisaged as major manufacturing, logistics hub

MINSK, 30 April (BelTA) – The China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone will soon become a major center for manufacturing and shipping innovative products, BelTA learned from Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Boleslav Pirshtuk. The MP visited the industrial park together with participants of the international parliamentary conference of the Silk Road Support Group of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on 30 April.

The MP said: “We see this pearl. It is one of the largest parks of this kind. I am sure that in the near future it will become a major center for not only manufacturing but for the logistics of selling cutting-edge innovative products and goods. It will be a huge addition to the Belarusian economy, one of the factors to drive its development. This is why our parliamentarians and colleagues are very interested in seeing with their own eyes what we discussed in conference halls yesterday.”

Participants of the international parliamentary conference of the Silk Road Support Group of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly were made familiar with progress in building and developing the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. They met with top officials of the industrial park administration and representatives of the companies residing in the park. In particular, they visited an R&D center of OOO Chengdu Xinzhu Silk Road Development, an OOO MAZ-Weichai engine factory, and the one-stop shop center for investors and resident companies. “The Belt and Road initiative has many followers because it opens up huge prospects. Many countries would like to take an active part in it. Belarus is no exception,” the deputy head of the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament said.

According to Boleslav Pirshtuk, it is symbolical that it is Belarus that is hosting the international parliamentary conference of the Silk Road Support Group of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. “It means that the delegation of the Belarusian parliament and the parliament as a whole take an active part in OSCE work. The participation of such respected partners of this organization in the forum is very important for us. We are more focused on economic affairs, this is why our conference was dedicated to such important matters as investment appeal, infrastructure, humanitarian and tourism appeal,” the MP said.

President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly George Tsereteli mentioned the excellent organization of the international parliamentary conference of the OSCE PA Silk Road Support Group. “We’ve had two beautiful days in Belarus. The trip was short, but rather informative. During the conference yesterday we signed a final declaration, which allows us to sketch out future development prospects. We would like to allow everyone to get some advantages from this project,” George Tsereteli stated.

Participants of the conference are expected to visit the Memorial Church of All Saints in Minsk later today.
